Program Overview
Starting in the ninth grade, we provide rigorous academic instruction, quality mentorship, and individualized advising, to ensure that our Scholars are admitted to competitive colleges, and experience a rich and rewarding college education.
When a student joins SEO they must commit to the following:
After-School Instruction (2-3 days per week during the school year)
Weekly, after-school, seminar-style classes and small-group tutoring is a vital component of our program model.
Saturday Academy (Every Saturday during the school year)
A full day of “school” is provided three Saturdays per month during the academic year. Experienced Instructors deliver a rigorous and comprehensive curriculum of reading, writing, grammar, and math. Classes are discussion-based and mimic college courses.
Summer Academy (5-7 weeks during the summer)
Our five-week-long Summer Academy features all-day classes, Monday through Friday.
Dual Enrollment (During Summer Academy)
Scholars take college courses the summer of their 9th, 10th and 11th grade year. SEO Scholars partners with a community college to provide specialized, private college classes specifically for our Scholars.
Additional Programming
SAT Strategy Course
Saturday Academy continues throughout the 11th grade, concluding in an SAT strategy course in the spring.
Mentoring
Scholars work one-on-one with volunteer mentors throughout the 11th grade.
Summer Enrichment Programs
Scholars participate in EPs that promote leadership and independence, including travel abroad, experiential programs, college courses, and professional internships, during the summer before 12th grade.
